Preserving Stability, Preventing Homelessness

Charting people on a course toward self-sufficiency and empowerment

Homebase is New York City’s flagship homelessness prevention program. HELP USA operates four Homebase offices in the Bronx, covering 10 zip codes. Each year we aid 5,600 households, achieving a remarkable 95% success rate in keeping participants in their homes and out of shelters.

However, Homebase is more than just a program—it’s our commitment to stopping homelessness before it starts and helping people build better lives. To this end, Homebase offers support services directly aimed at resolving problems that can lead to homelessness. These services prioritize providing stability to participants, and include counseling, benefit assistance, and even short-term financial aid.

Homebase offers a lifeline to those facing housing instability and the threat of homelessness.

The program targets individuals aged 5 to 18 living in HELP USA facilities and the surrounding community, focusing on those attending Community District 5 schools. This district faces various socioeconomic challenges, including high poverty rates, crime, gang violence, and predictors of homelessness, resulting in limited access to digital tools, technology curriculum, college preparation, and career readiness.

A beacon of hope at the forefront of community support

Our approach is compassionate and client-focused, ensuring that every family and individual receives the support they need. Homebase aims to break the cycle of homelessness and help people establish long-term stability by tackling the underlying issues that lead to housing crises.
