HELP USA RESIDENT ROCKS AMERICAN IDOL
Well, we’ve been bound to keep this a secret until now, but we are finally proud to announce that . . .
Travis Orlando, a seventeen year old singer-songwriter and past resident of HELP USA’s Bronx Morris shelter, will perform on American Idol tonight at 8:00 pm EST on Fox.
Travis and his fraternal twin brother Timothy Orlando were born and raised in Bronx, New York. Travis’s passion for music was noticed at an early age when he learned how to play the guitar by himself. Travis draws inspiration from his favorite music varieties including soul, pop and rhythm and blues, but his sound is totally his own.
Travis and his family moved into HELP Bronx Morris after their father became ill and went on dialysis just before the recession hit and could no longer work.
In order for Travis to pursue his music career through American Idol, HELP Bronx Morris’ case manager assisted Travis in identifying an alternative school program at The Door. To further support his aspirations toward a music career, HELP Bronx Morris assisted Travis with appropriate clothing and luggage. Thanks to Mike Ruiz and the rest of the staff at HELP’s Bronx Morris shelter, Travis and his family are now out of the shelter and living independently.
Please join us in supporting Travis and his inspiring story as he continues to follow his dream of becoming the next American Idol. For more updates and information check out our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/helpusa and follow us on Twitter, @HelpUSA.
