Bon Jovi, Newark Mayor Booker unveil $10.4M affordable housing project

NEWARK -- Who says you can’t go home? Thanks to Jersey-born rock star Jon Bon Jovi, HIV/AIDS patients in Newark finally can.
Bon Jovi today officially opened HELP Genesis JBJ Soul Homes -- 51 units of affordable housing in Newark’s North Ward, with 15 units dedicated solely for HIV/AIDS patients, making it the first ever project of its kind in New Jersey.

Reuben Napper has been HIV positive for 12 years and was diagnosed with diabetes in 2007. One might even say that he has been "livin' on a prayer" since then.

NEWARK, NJ-- Mayor Cory A. Booker, Jon Bon Jovi, and members of the community to cut the ribbon to open HELP Genesis JBJ Soul Homes at 60-68 Mt. Pleasant Avenue in the City's North Ward.
Also attending were Municipal Council Vice President Luis Quintana, Council Members-at-Large Carlos M. Gonzalez and Donald M. Payne, Jr. and other local leaders.
