NEW YORK, NY – November 12, 2015 –  There was an extra special float at the Veterans Day Parade this year in New York City – known as the Men’s Wearhouse AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole float. The float  featured well-dressed gentlemen who are all formerly homeless veterans whose lives are being turned around thanks to the support they received from HELP USA, one of the nation’s largest providers of housing and supportive services for the homeless.

Now, thanks to a partnership between Kenneth Cole and Men’s Wearhouse, these and other homeless veterans will receive more assistance and services.  These two fashion powerhouses are collaborating on the “AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole” Collection, in which Men’s Wearhouse will donate a portion of proceeds from store sales of the collection to Hire Heroes, a nonprofit empowering U.S. military members, veterans and spouses by helping them succeed in the civilian workforce, and Kenneth Cole will donate a portion of the proceeds to HELP USA.

The five veterans chosen to represent HELP USA on the float this year are: Dwayne Charles-Haynes who spent 10 years in the US Army and did 1 tour of Iraq; Richie Celestin who spent 4 years in the US Army; George Perkins who is a Vietnam veteran; John Pierog who spent 3 years in the US Marine Corps; and Robert Seccadanari who spent 4 years in the US Army. These five gentlemen have more than 20 years of combined military service to their country.

Discussing the clothing campaign, Maria Cuomo Cole, Chairman of HELP USA, said, “We are thrilled and grateful for the generous support from this campaign. This new partnership with Men’s Wearhouse and the AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole line will allow us to continue funding our housing and supportive services for veterans throughout this nation.”

One of the HELP USA veterans, Robert Seccadanari, expressed his gratitude by saying, “I never thought in a million years I could have a suit fitting in a Men’s Wearhouse. I’m so grateful to Kenneth Cole and Men’s Wearhouse for giving me a suit and HELP USA for providing me with the support I needed to help me find my place in society again.”

HELP USA provides permanent and transitional housing, drug and alcohol counseling, job training and placement, education and mentoring, and legal services to the homeless.  For veterans, it also has a Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, which provides a specialized holistic health program for homeless veterans to help them cope with the unique physical and mental issues they may experience.

The Collection benefits United States military veterans, a population that lacks significant supportive programs across the country. A one percent contribution from all everyday gross sales of “AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole” products will go toward helping veterans transition back into the workforce. Proceeds from the sales will assist in the successful counseling and career placement for thousands of veterans, and provide transitional housing for those fighting homelessness.

Yesterday, Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2016, Men’s Wearhouse increased the donation amount to ten percent of all gross sales of AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole products that business day.
