Homeless Prevention Programs
As part of New York City's plan to end homelessness, the Department of Homeless Services has established HomeBase Homeless Prevention Community Resource Centers in six Community Districts throughout New York City. The HomeBase centers began serving clients at risk of homelessness on October 1, 2004. "Doubled up" clients (where multiple families share housing) are especially encouraged to seek assistance.
HELP USA was awarded a contract to operate a HomeBase Center serving the residents of Community
District 6 in the East Tremont/Belmont section of the Bronx.
The HomeBase program also provides short-term financial assistance to clients in crisis for payment of rent
arrears, furniture purchases, or to assist with other kinds of household emergencies.
Prospective clients who are at risk of homelessness in Community District 6 can access HomeBase services
by calling 718-299-8473 or by visiting the HomeBase Community Resource Center at 775 Crotona Park North.
