HELP Harbor

Confidential Location, New York

HELP Harbor was the first HELP USA transitional residential facility exclusively devoted to serving victims of domestic violence. HELP Harbor offers housing for 53 families, serving a maximum of 181 clients.

HELP Harbor does not discriminate against male victims of domestic violence, though 99.9 percent of its clients are women.

The therapeutic emphasis at HELP Harbor encourages residents to examine the root causes of domestic violence. Housing and employment assistance gives them the tools to live independently and free from abuse.

HELP Harbor has served over 1025 families since its inception in 1999. Eighty-three percent of HELP Harbor clients have been placed into permanent housing. Of the families voluntarily enrolled in the After-Care Program, none have re-entered a relationship with a "known" batterer, nor had to return to an emergency shelter due to domestic violence.
